What are the tax implications of moving the car out of Texas? I assume from the OP description there are potential issues……

Not sure. I can call BMWFS on Monday and find out. I think they update the tax and payment based on the new zip code…

Thanks. Price not coming down. Only selling because I’m not a fan of red. If the car doesn’t trade before end of year so I can get a new i7 in a different color, I’ll just keep it. Thanks!

From what I understand, the local rate just gets tacked on to your current monthly since lender tax credits are an internal thing.

You add your monthly tax on top. Like 6-9% in most states.

Only a problem in MD, VA, etc where taxes are on the value of the car.

OK - then that seems more straight forward than the post inferred - basically current numbers include Tx taxes - deduct them and add on top whatever your local taxes are… am I reading this right?

Or are the local taxes on top of the Tx taxes bc the Tx taxes are “locked in” to the lease life somehow…….

… sorry for what may seem a basic question ……… but I am in SoCal, I have been a long time LH lurker - never leased, but sometime soon will replace my Taycan with an i7 … bc I have no BMW Loyalty my first car will likely be a transfer …

Found someone to take over lease. They have great credit and a high-paying job. BMWFS declined them. Kinda dumb, since I’d just turn around and get another i7. Boo….

Sold on Swapalease. Two applicants denied. Third applicant approved.

For the record:

*BMW now makes the transferor pay the $500 upfront. $400 is refundable if the applicant is not approved and there is no transfer. Make sure the potential buyer sends you $100 before you have BMW send them the application.

*Process was MUCH quicker than anticipated.
