2025 Kia Sorrento PHEV — lease buyout to get EV credit?

, ,

Agreed; I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel here. Basically, ANY datapoints are good at this point because there are so few.

Thank you for combining them; it was dumb of me to create a second post.

Yeah, these are also end of model year and with the EV credit disappearing, I suspect that they are not worried about selling the 2025 models before it expires? Or at least, that’s my guess.

FWiW, I reached out to brokers in California—the Kia ones have said the dealers simply won’t sign the papers for out of state deals.

B/c it’s a RWD-based, longitudinally mounted engine and b/c many/most people instinctively associated a longer dash-to-axle ratio w/ a more expensive car.

If the brokers who work w/ Kia have said their dealership won’t ship out of state, maybe you could ask them if they could share what a solid pre-incentive/-rebate discount from MSRP is. You could also check Kia-specific forums.

And, if there’s still no info to be gained from those avenues, then maybe keep a spreadsheet of the dealerships you’ve contacted, what offers/counteroffers have been made, and then, when you get sick of dealing w/ it, just choose the one that had the best deal…? It sounds as if you’ve done your due diligence.

At some point, if you won’t consider any other car, then you just make the best decision you can w/ the info you have.

What have you found from non-CA dealers?

From what is available online, not a lot of variation. There are dealers on the East Coast closer to 51k or so—but the shipping cost alone would eat up any savings, if not costing more. Like someone mentioned, brokers on the east coast are also not offering massive discounts—so I’ve come to the realization that there just not a lot of options for me here.

Yes, this is what I have been doing—so far the lowest sales price I’ve gotten is $2500 off of MSRP, which is about $52.5k

How many dealers have you contacted and how are you approaching them. (I.e. What price are you offering them). If you aren’t making offers, then you are destined for a bad outcome.

BTW, perhaps a silly question, but have you confirmed that the PHEV gets a $7500 rebate? I was just perusing the 2025 Kia Sorento forum at Edmunds and, while the PHEV does get several thousand in lease cash, the amount isn’t $7500.
