Constructively, there are some false premises in your questions.
Audi doesn’t dictate to any dealer how much the dealer will discount the car.
With that said, when a national ad specifies a hypothetical dealer discount, the discount is generally worse (often much worse) than the market dictates.
The MF by itself doesn’t tell you anything. An absurdly high MF can be more than offset by an artificially high RV.
LH calculator shows buy rate for MF. This can be marked up to a hard cap for additional dealer profit, but you can compensate for any markup with a larger dealer discount.
Thanks, I’m even more surprised that the LH calculator show the buy rate!
And, yes, I realize that everything is negotiable and fluid when negotiating with the dealer.
Oh, for sure the guy needs to learn how the calc works and populate his target payment/DAS…but from the basics there is no ‘deal’ to be had here…unless a HUGE dealer discount!
You need to read up on how leasing works and how to calc your own deal. Base MF (- max MSD) is as low as you can get because set by bank. Dealer can mark up tho. RV is set by bank and is not negotiable. Discount off MSRP is the biggest negotiable. And all incentives you can get along with base MF. No dealer add ons.
Agreed! I will try to negotiate the price down further. I need to find a website that shows dealer invoices so I have a rough idea what my floor price might be.
Why are you asking the dealer what they want you to pay? Take an active stance and make a well researched, aggressive, but realistic, time-sensitive, actionable offer to at the minimum sales manager, but better if you can reach GSM or GM.
