You can’t transfer a Volvo

Even if Volvo allowed it, you can’t transfer a $1509/mth Volvo. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

On a serious note, call VCFS, and ask how much it would cost you to turn in the car early and break the lease. That’s your only option here as Volvo’s do not transfer.

Awkward Bye Bye GIFWhen I saw the monthly….

For the love of god, don’t ever go back to that Volvo dealership ever again.

As others mentioned, VCFS does not allow transfers. Your options out of this lease are extremely limited due to VCFS restrictions and best bet is to call them.

Good luck

Apologies, I did not realize that Volvos could not be transferred. Thanks for the tips, all.

I’m curious how to do better with leases in the future. I got 22% off MSRP (by my research, that’s about as good as one ever gets?) and a Money Factor of 0.002 (my understanding was that this was also quite good in 2023). Are there other metrics that I was missing? FWiW, the payment does include various insurances (including tire road hazard insurance, windshield insurance, and insurance against accidental damage during the lease), but I understand that still it’s pretty steep compared to most of the deals that people are finding here.

Is it just that leases are really only good deals in exceptional circumstances, such as the ones often posted here?

who is the dealer?

If you’re truly interested in learning for next time, familiarize yourself with the Leasehackr calculator – you can plug numbers in and see how the variables change monthly payment and total lease cost.

Though in this specific case, you could have reasonably estimated that financing through VCFR would have been quite a bit cheaper if your heart was set on this exact car. Alternatively, you could have taken this deal sheet to any dealer in the country and surely they’d have beat it. For future reference, there is no new $83k MSRP vehicle that will ever be worth leasing for >$1,500/mo.

Volvo of Scottsdale. We shopped around at numerous dealers, including out of state ones, until we couldn’t get anyone to beat it further. Maybe Volvos are hard to get good deals on via leasing…

Part of the reason I chose to lease was that the $7500 EV credit was available for leased vehicles (but not purchases) given that the Volvo wasn’t built in the US. Not saying that made it worth it, but purchasing didn’t look much better given the absence of that credit.

how much did you put down? or upfront?

Hopefully the sale guy sent you a Christmas gift.

See if you can still cancel them.

Yes, cancel all that bloat. It will be prorated, but it’s better than nothing. FYI, it’s a pain in the ass of a process, but money is money.

I saw “Scottsdale” and immediately could envision how this could happen.

That explains it all - that Volvo came with a free oceanview property located right behind the dealership.
