2023 BMW M2 discussion

Some guys on here play chess. Some checkers, and some tick tack toe.

Is it announced yet? How much is MSRP?

I decided to pass on the M2 and I got an M240 X drive. I am loving it. I think it its much better looking, at the time I ordered it there was at least a year wait for an M2 and I will never use the additional performance delta the M2 gives you. I know the look of these cars are polarizing. Personally I love the M240 and think the M2 is over the top. It looks like a car from GTA where they wanted it to look like a real car but couldn’t make it look exact due to copyright issues. And oh buy if you don’t like the look of the M2 have you seen it with the M performance parts. They are really bad.

With that being said the performance is staggering. I get sub 4 second 0-60 all day with no drama or issue, on a stock car. I am going to add JB4, intake and downpipe. I can not image how crazy the M2 is. There is no better performance bargain than the M240.

No, they just started deliveries of the M2 a couple of weeks ago. No one has any idea yet what the MSRP will be.

There’s got to be a report button somewhere. This was brutal. :hocho: :drop_of_blood:

I’ve been waiting a long time for the M2. Reviews haven’t been great and it doesn’t look good…at all. I know others mostly hate the M3/4 grilles but that’s where things are going and they should have kept the M2 closer in looks to its bigger brother. I believe BMW will have to throw the design completely out the window and start over so I’m passing on the 2024. :-1:t3:

0 percent chance that happens. I think the reviews have been great, it’s fast AF. I don’t know what people want. Prior gen m2 was all over the place which somehow translates to fun, but a more composed car which is faster is considered less fun ?

They are selling very well it seems. Every time bmw unveils a new model everyone craps on it for a year or two ( while many times buying one themselves) and then after that year or two people admit they like the design and shift their gripes to whatever new concept bmw is working on . I’m sure now we will hear how new 5 is garbage

I thought most of the reviews were pretty good?

No they are not. According to BMW design boss Hooydonk…future BMW design will be much “cleaner” and they will “design the grille according to the proportion of the overall vehicle.”

How likely is that going to happen??

if you give people amazing lease deals on ugly cars, they’ll take them.

Yes, the reviews have been overall positive. It is a very capable vehicle.

Nice. I’m 6th on the dealer Clutch put me through for one of these. Guess that puts me into a 2024 so I could do one of the new frozen paints for it

Illinois dealer?

I don’t buy anything out of that guy’s mouth. Even during the much-maligned E65/E60 era, which I didn’t think was anywhere near as bad as the hysterical reaction, there was never a sense that BMW was targeting the very tackiest, gaudiest look-at-me nouveau riche of the world and that each new model was going up to one-up the one before.

Yeah, up there

I go by what Jason Cammisa of Hagerty says. His knowledge of sports cars, esp M cars, is 2nd to none. I wanted to see what he said and he said he’d take a hard pass on the M2. I’ll post his review if anyone wants to read it.
BMW must be trying to build a huge moat around the M3/4 since in the recent past the M4 and M2 were very similar looking. I’m not one to crap on the design out of the gate. I think the larger grilles on the M3/4 is great. Even the new Gen 3 Tundra was vilified for its grille and now all the haters on are the wait list to buy one. I put myself of 3 waitlists for the M2 but I’ve passed on all 3. I don’t see anything worth buying until BMW admits this was a huge mistake.

There’s no reason to put him on a pedestal.

It’s a lot of bombast, I guess to generate views, and should not be taken too seriously. A lot like another JC, of Top Gear fame/infamy.

Have you watched his reviews? His M Car video is epic. Talks about BMWs on a whole different level. Hes usually 100% on all M cars so you cant say its for ratings. Its ok for people to disagree. He makes great points.

Saw a G87 M2 a few weeks ago. It actually looked really good. A lot of road presence, caught my eye immediately. Like Chris Harris has said, the design also grew on me quickly. With that said, the M4 pig face still looks like complete dogsh*t.

I think we’ll see allocations open up quite a bit for FY24. Keep in mind it’s a new model being built for the first time in a new factory. MY23 was super short, as BMW usually flips over in July/August production.

If I remember correctly, we saw something similar for MY16/17 when the M2 was first released. Initial supply was rough, but opened up after about a year
