2021 X3 Loaner Deal Check

, ,

Looking for input on my lease deal that I am working out. Keep in mind that I’m in Texas so gotta pay those taxes.

Car we are looking at is a 2021 BMW X3 loner with the executive package (leather, heads up display, virtual cockpit, surround view, etc.) and about 2190 miles on it.

I have a lease on an RDX expiring in March (380/month 0 DAS). Is it worth waiting until March to pick up a new car for the wife or is this deal too good to pass on?

Selling price: $51,645

What incentives are in this “discount”?

I wouldn’t call this deal too good to pass up. But nobody knows what the next three month’s programs will look like.

But I’m pretty sure BMW deals will be better in March/April as always when prior year lease support ends. And no tax credits in this deal.

No incentives that I am aware of. Do loaners qualify for the same new car incentives?

Thanks for the input. I think what you’re saying makes sense. I will probably wait it out. Of course no one knows what will happen but I’m not dead set on the car. Def open to other options.

You need to ask on Edmunds forums for the MF and incentives in your zip code.

There is almost certainly some lease cash for everyone as well as eligibility-based rebates such as loyalty

A few things seem off here. The residual for 12k for a 2021 is 55%, so your residual is off by 2% before the mileage deduction.

Also, the registration fees are more than double what they should be. At most, they should be $210-$225 with all the tire and tax fees, but many dealerships just charge $200. The same goes for the doc fee; I’ve worked with numerous dealerships in TX, and the fee should be $150.

I figured that you don’t have loyalty or corporate and subtracted out the lease incentive: leasehackr.com/calculator?make=BMW&miles=12000&msd=0&msrp=51645&sales_price=43025&months=36&mf=.00082&dp=0&dealer_fee=150&acq_fee=849&taxed_inc=0&untaxed_inc=1750&rebate=0&resP=55&reg_fee=210&sales_tax=6.25&demo_mileage=2190&memo=&acqFee_check=true&zero_driveoff=true&salesPriceTax_radio=true

You had $0 drive-off in the calculator, so that’s what’s above. If you’re paying $1,500 at signing, your payment is way off: leasehackr.com/calculator?make=BMW&miles=12000&msd=0&msrp=51645&sales_price=43025&months=36&mf=.00082&dp=-2585&dealer_fee=150&acq_fee=849&taxed_inc=0&untaxed_inc=1750&rebate=0&resP=55&reg_fee=210&sales_tax=6.25&demo_mileage=2190&memo=&acqFee_check=true&salesPriceTax_radio=true&govFee_check=false

It’s closer to this with a marked up MF, and most dealerships in TX mark it up: leasehackr.com/calculator?make=BMW&miles=12000&msd=0&msrp=51645&sales_price=43025&months=36&mf=0.00122&dp=-2614&dealer_fee=150&acq_fee=849&taxed_inc=0&untaxed_inc=1750&rebate=0&resP=55&reg_fee=210&sales_tax=6.25&demo_mileage=2190&memo=&acqFee_check=true&salesPriceTax_radio=true&govFee_check=false

After all that, your discount is more like 13.7%. However, I would verify the mileage on the car. You can no longer lease a loaner before it has a certain amount of time on it or 2,500 miles, and most cars, especially an X3, reach 2,500 miles before the time has elapsed.

Don’t overlook vehicle inventory tax. Some dealers pass it on some don’t:

Thank you. This is incredibly informative. I did go to Edmunds to get the MF and residual, but I realized I inputted the residual for 15k rather than 12k.

I also did it know how to show the $1500 DAS in the calculator the way you did. Thanks for sharing.

All that said, I will try again armed with the above.

Thank you. What is the vehicle inventory tax?

.2174% over state sales tax. It’s an optional thing.

Gotcha! Thank you!

Sarcasm or are they really better those month? Genuinely asking because my lease ends in February.

Historically there have been some good opportunities when lease support for prior model years is about to run out.

Sometimes that has happened in March or April or may or June.

But all bets related to 2020 are off.

Given that OP current lease doesn’t end until March, most current lease deals suck, this one isn’t exactly great, and it has happened every year - I’d roll the dice.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll be waiting out.
