First Lease is ending on my 2021 RAV4 and the current value of the car is about 5k more than the residual value. Reached out for a buyout option but does not look too appealing so I was wondering if I should try trade-leasing at another dealer? Here are the options I have at the moment but would be open to going somewhere else at this price point.
Go see Rav4 is worth to a dealer and can put you in a new Lease or help you Finance your current car if you like it.
I gave him the trade value
We buy trades too if you want an offer and can help w the new rav4
Sorry, is the first quote to buy out your car and the second quote if you trade it in for another car?
that is correct. First quote is to buy the car second is to lease another rav4
Use the equity as a down payment to finance a brand new car in that segment.
RAV4 and CRV have best resale value while Mazda and Kia probably have the best APR.
thank you for your response! I was hoping my equity would help me in purchasing the car(residual value is 25k, payoff is 27k, the car has a value of around 32-35k) but as you can see in the screenshots buying my lease doesnt really move the needle for me(monthly payments would be the same)
I am trying to understand what you mean, are you saying I can trade my current lease(which expires next month) to another dealership and use the equity as a trade in to get another lease/purchase a car?
Rav4 has one of the highest leases in the segment
WAY better off on other brands such as Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, etc
Yes.
Equity has no meaning when you’re buying the car. Equity is only realized when you sell (trading is another form of selling).
Yes, but the next deal has to be a good one. Don’t throw the equity into a bad or mediocre deal.
In the second deal that is exactly what you are doing. You don’t understand that they are applying equity from your existing lease to lower the cost of the new lease? You can do the same thing if you want to buy instead of lease, but the payment will be much higher.
Will Toyota FS allow 3rd party to buy the lease, or OP stuck with Toyota or Lexus?
If you buy out the lease you now own it and have immediate equity if you want to sell it in 3 years. With another lease you still own nothing in 3 years and have spent more money in the process.
