The 5 msds you can apply here would save you the same at .00028 or .0028

Doc fee is not capped in NJ. I have no idea what you mean by “the rest is deducted from selling price”
Tax is upfront @6.625 % on the total lease coast . You’re just under the luxury surcharge threshold; otherwise that would be 0.4% on the selling price .
DMV is usually $289-311 depending on the class of vehicle. Tire tax $1.50 per tire.
What is the rest, VIT, etc?
What do you mean? Cap on doc fee in NJ is $500 and I’ve seen dealers charge $700.
I am in Texas, so I was going by what I could find online to help my cousin. I was led to believe that $79 is allowed by state law for a dealer doc fee. So, we asked for $420 of the doc fee to be removed. Rather than remove it, they lowered the selling price by an additional $420.
And yeah, $410 covers the tire tax, registration, title, and VIT plus a few bogus online filing fees, etc that add up to less than $75. Was going to get those polished out while in the F&I office. Figured it would be easier than going back and forth with sales.
It’s small but yes I see your point. On Audi the MSDs are .00001 reduction for each MSD, right?

$79 allowed in NJ,
NJ is not capped at $79 for doc fee.
Interesting. Thanks for the info!

Doc fee is capped at $75 in NY, which may be what is getting confused
5 MSDs at 0.00005 would make the MF negative. It’s at .00028 already.
Any recommendations on an honest Audi dealer in the NJ area that isn’t going to play nonstop games? This deal could be better. She is willing to travel a reasonable distance to get the best deal.

No, it’d make it .00003, which is why you max out at 5.
You’re right. My math was bad. I’ll try to explain MSDs to her. It will knock another $15 or so off the payment.

Ultimately this isn’t a good deal for a base model Q5… close to $550 effective

I recently signed a 2021 Q5 with the same MSRP, albeit in PA and for 12,000 miles per year. Here is the data point for you:
I did end up adding some MSDs into the deal, but the dealer would only let me put down 6, for some reason. I wanted to put 7, but not going to blow up the deal for $4/month.
Thank you for sharing your deal!
