I hate the cross shopping comments on other threads however you are on to something, he could have gotten a scat pack for this monthly range.
You should have asked, there are quite a few other avenues to get into a scat pack in this range, though awd is an advantage in the north.
At this point though just enjoy the car and move on. A v8 is not for everyone, gas cost goes up, usually insurance cost follows closely behind and not to mention they are rwd only and basically turn into a disaster if it snows unless you wanna run a dedicated winter setup on eco mode.
