I was 17 months into a 36 month 2019 Mazda 3 Hatchback lease. Buyout was $17,5xx and negotiated with the dealer to give me $18,250 on the trade and rolled the remainder (~$700) as a cap reduction. I paid the fees and 1st month at signing.

$700 :on the trade in???

Did you check carvana, carmax, shift etc to get other prices before letting it go to bmw for $700??

Does your $2044 das include the trade equity or is that in addition?

I did, but the difference wasn’t worth the hassle, and I’d done a sign-and-drive for the Mazda, so I did not feel like I “lost money” on the deal.
