Car play or Android Auto are better than any built in nav, fire up Waze and away you go.

Yep! Car play has the ability to display on the digital cockpit but VW didn’t do anything with it. Would be cool.
So what’s the point of the virtual cockpit?
It’s customizable in the SEL even though it doesn’t show nav information from CarPlay or Android Auto. There are a bunch of different layouts.
So they’ve basically sabotaged ACP/AA just to sell a few more units with built-in nav?
That’s what it seems like to me, absolutely. I believe that I saw someone on the subreddit for the Jetta talking about trying to look into the software to see if there was a way to allow the phone-based navs to work with the virtual dashboard. I haven’t looked back into it though.
