2019 Hyundai Sante Fe XL Limited Ultimate w/ Tech Package (zip code 20176)

I looked at a 2018 Sante Fe SE Ultimate with Tech Package. This car is considered pre owned w/ 2100 miles (they said it was an exec car at Hyundai). I got 2 separate sheets from the dealer … here are the numbers i got for 36 month / 12k miles:

Am I wrong in thinking this is not a good deal. The manager is saying sales price is $42,800 but the numbers don’t work in calculator with that (they do work with $44,213 as seen above). This suggests the only negotiation is the lease cash offered plus $500 off MSRP. Am i reading that right?

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Terrible deal, discount should be at least double.

Thanks. When I looked at the numbers I figured with the sale price entered in calculator of $38,000 and $6400 for Taxed Incentive it brought the monthly payment to $378 (tax included) … at $40,000 it was $441. Are these more in the ballpark for a fair/good deal?

Do you think a $500 discount for a used car with 2100 miles is a good discount?

Are they charging $5000 above MSRP for new cars or what?

I didn’t notice that part, if it was some sort factory car, they got a deal on it. I wouldn’t go for anything lease than 20% off. I doubt they’ll do it because they know they can probably go 10% off for someone and they’ll bite, and at that number they are probably making a good profit. If it’s not a factory car and is just a demo, I wouldn’t expect more than 15%. Being a Hyundai you need to contact every dealer in town, somebody will whore one out.

The manager said he bought it from auction for what it’s worth. When you say 20% off is that including the lease cash or in addition to lease cash?

My thought was negotiate MSRP down from $44770 to $38-39k … then lease cash of $6400 gets monthly payments in $350-400 range. Do you see this as doable on this car or one that doesn’t have mileage?

Isn’t this a new loaner? What do you mean he bought it at auction?

Has the vehicle ever been titled before?

Tell the sales manager 20 percent or you’ll shop elsewhere. I see no reason why you should pay more than Q5 money for a Santa Fe.

RV and MF are terrible, but expected from Hyundai.

Moved to “Ask the Hackrs” where it should be.

20% before incentives, it’s a used car. How many other stealerships have you contacted?

We have 2 other dealerships to visit - will let you know how it goes. Any range i should be aiming for with no downpayment for monthly payment?

Thanks for all the input.

You should be aiming for the range that you wind up at with a reasonable discount. Payment is an output not an input.

Don’t visit any dealerships, do everything remotely

What range would you suggest winds up with a reasonable discount?

Has already been answered.

Thanks so much for your input chrishs2000 - very helpful.

When i bought my 2016 santa fe ultimate, i got 5k off msrp on a $43k before rebates. That is for a brand new suv. Since 2019 will be coming out soon, you should get a good deal on this loaner. Ask for $6k off. It should be in the low to mid $400’s.

Thanks a bunch. I’m in talks with 2 other dealers and will post what happens.

Got a quick quote when i returned my santa fe. The 2019 hyunda santa fe were discounted at 7% with 4650 rebates without even trying Didnt like the interior of 2019 although lots of standard safety feature now in all trim. This is the sport model 2018 equiv and not the XL.

Considering this SUV. What did you not like on the interior ?
My main problem is the anemic old engine with bad MPG and the turbo is only on the top trims.
