2019 BMW 530i end of lease buyout

Crazy to think it’s been almost 3 years since I posted my lease on here. So my 2019 530i lease is coming up next month. It has 23,000 miles and has been a dream since picking it up. Like many of you, the price I am paying for a 2019 BMW also seems like a dream. I am paying $398/month for the lease. The payoff is ~$33,500 after taxes and MSD reduction. I really haven’t had any issues with the car and it still looks brand new. However, I am not opposed to walking away if the buyout doesn’t make sense. So my question is - does a buyout make sense? Thanks for the input.

What’s the payoff before?

RV is $33,762

Depends on what your priorities are.

Faced with the same decision earlier this year, I looked around the market and asked myself:

  • Is there a different but comparable new vehicle available to lease at a similar cost, or even a modest premium? (:-1: )
  • Could I purchase a comparable CPO vehicle for about the same as my buyout? (:-1: )
  • Is there a lesser vehicle I’d be willing to drive for another X years for similar cost? (:-1:)

So I bought out the lease.

It doesnt. your car is likely thousands underwater. you’d be overpaying for an asset that isn’t worth what you’re paying for it.

That’s kinda the same boat I’m in. Sure I like having a new car, but I don’t think technology has changed much since 2019. The cost of a lease on a comparable car is much higher and to pay around what I’m paying now would give me a lesser car.

Why not extend the lease a bit? 3 months w/o an order, 6 months with an order. Order some BMW you know won’t come in time (or will take a while to come in), extend for 6 months, and cancel the order.

Your lease is most likely underwater. Same issue with my 2019 540xi. $37k RV, and $32k market price based on what I’ve seen. Doesn’t make sense to buy it.

Will miss my $420/mo 4.4 sec car next month.

Can only extend 2 months without order

Honestly, see if a BMW dealer will buy it out from you for payoff. That’s prob your best bet so you can atleast avoid the dispo fee and any other lease-end charges.

More than likely there’s no equity in these 5ers.

I’m in the same boat with my 2019 BMW 530e. RV is $33K and it only has 21K miles on it. I figure I’ll buy out the lease, as @trism decision process matches mine.
I also looked at the private party selling price for 2018 models, as that will likely be in the range of the selling price of my 2019 in a year from now. I figure I’ll sell it in a year when interest rates and car prices will likely be lower and I can lease again at that time. The downside is I’ll have to pay tax on buying out the lease.
