2018 toyota highlander lease extention. question

Have a lease expiring called Toyota financial they are willing to extend lease my current payment is 415 tax included in payment. The are extending it to 415 month but I have to pay tax in full upon extension. Is this normal as I currently pay it included with the 415 not is it on top of the 415?
Let me know

In NY tax was paid upfront for 36m or whatever was the duration of your original lease. It doesn’t matter if you paid it upfront or the lessor did, it was done either way.

Any subsequent extensions will be taxed anew.

for the whole 36 months or 6 months extended?

For the 6 months or whatever the duration of the extension is.

so I pay tax on the amount I am paying or on the total car value? Also shouldn’t the payment go down since I am paying 415 with the tax in the payments , if i paid upfront at the beginning the payment would have been less than 415. Now its 415 + tax does not make sense.

I didn’t write the code, don’t ask me to make it make sense.

AFAIK the tax due for your extension will be:

Your current monthly payment x N number of month extension x your tax rate (varies by county in NY).
