2018 Chevy Volt Premier Lease - Need Some Advice

I would not go for the 2019. The charger is unnecessary, and really not worth the extra you will pay.

I drive 19.9 miles back and forth to work each day. On a 240 outlet, I have a full charge in a little under 2 hours. Have the 240 outlet added if you don’t have one. This will be a whole lot cheaper than a lease on 2019.

As @tech_moto_dad said, this car is compact. You can seat 4 comfortably for short trips, but that is it. As a straight up commuter though, it cannot be beat.

I have owned mine for 2 months, and have yet to pull into a gas station.

Thats what i got too on the LT but wanted the premiere. The dealer wont budge on the 12% on the higher trim last month. Less discount + less incentives on the prem + $40k price tag is what killed the deal for me. Besides, i need a mid size. But the volt lt is the best deal imho.

Unless you are in a mild winter area or have a very short commute, heating your ev with all electric will severely reduced the range by as much as 40%. Electric heating is very inefficient and the worst way to heat ev. Some ev uses heat pump for efficiency but that will not work in frigid winter.

@Force Thanks for the info. That’s why the 2019 peaked my interest. Here’s what I read about it:

For drivers in cool climates that hope to use as small amount of gas as possible, the new Chevrolet Volt offers an automatic engine-assisted heating system that can turn down temperatures to minus 13 degrees Fahrenheit / 25 degrees Celsius. This will allow drivers to only use the electric components of the vehicle.

You need to get your lease by saturday. CT rebate will be cut in half starting Oct 15 from $2k to $1k.

@Force Thanks for that! Not sure I’ll be able to make that happen but thanks for the heads up!

Shopped a lot ended up with a Honda Clarity. Bigger inside and much cheaper at the end of the day with crazy incentives here in NE

@Jesuscookies Thanks! I get what your saying! I was just saying if it’s not too big a difference then it might’ve have been worth contemplating. Glad your enjoying the car!

Anyone have examples of deals they got on a 2019 Premier just for comparison purposes?

I would second that about Carmax

I got my 2018 Volt Premier! My main concern was first ending my lease on a 2016 Subaru Outback Limited (Great car by the way!) I had 3 payments left and got Quotes from Carmax, Carvana and Vroom. My lease pay off was about $22,900. Carmax offered $21,000, Carvana $21900 and Vroom was the highest at $22,000.

Since I had negative equity, I didn’t want 2 car payments so almost put the Volt purchase on hold until my lease was up. I went to a different dealer from where I did the test drive and looked at the 2019’s but settled with a 2018 because it was hard to ignore all the incentives ($9,525 to be exact!) and the 2019 ended up a lot more because of that. So, after negotiating on the 2018 and me attempting to get him down as close to $36,000 as possible he wouldn’t budge any further.

I then told him if I was to accept the deal I’d like them to payoff my Subaru lease which would mean they would have to offer higher than anything Carmax, Vroom etc. They said they couldn’t do it, car wasn’t worth that much. I left and called the original dealer where I took the test drive and asked if they could beat this deal. They didn’t want my car originally. Waited about half hour for them to get back back to me and they said they couldn’t even match the deal let alone beat it. I said thanks anyway and went back, tried a little more haggling to no avail and figured I did pretty good since the other dealer wouldn’t even match it. So, I came home with a Black 2018 Volt Premier with Nav, Conv 1 & 2, ACC, Interior Protection Package and Illuminated Charge port. Could I have done better? Most likely yes but once my old car was in the mix I think they were all in. Here’s a breakout so let me know what you think. Guess it doesn’t matter either way now lol but I’m loving the car so far!
