2018 chevy equinox 2.0t awd LT with 2LT lease in LA

New here, just wanted to check if this sounds like a good deal:

MSRP 35175;
36 months 12K miles lease with GM Financial Excess wear and tear coverage included;
After all incentives I got offered
$287 cash due at signing and $286.55 per month including all taxes and fees

I hate paying a big drive off amount, so I offered just making the first month payment. That explains the $287 due at signing.

After hours of haggling with the internet manager this is the best they are offering. Should I take the plunge?

What incentives did you qualify for?

I qualified for the conquest bonus, costco supplier pricing. Nothing else as far as I can remember. The problem is I couldn’t find a lot of dealers who have the 2.0 litre turbo with AWD available in stock.

Definitely go for the 2.0 turbo. I’m not sure about the new 1.5 base turbo engine, but the base engine in the wife’s 2017 is a dog. I wish I would’ve gotten the V6, but the Asian conquest deal on the 4 banger I got back in March made me suck it up and deal with it for 2 years.

I have the V6 in my 2016 Equinox and while it’s a rocket compared to my previous cars, the gas mileage is atrocious at around 16-17 combined. I wish I had gotten the 4 cylinder, but it would have been more because they only had this one with a bonus tag. The 1.5 turbo seemed peppy enough for me when I did my test drive of the new one a week ago

What makes that payment too high? What’s a good target the mentioned incentives?

I test drove both the 1.5T and the 2.0T, the 2.0T is way better. The 1.5T seemed pretty gutless compared to the 2.0T. The 2.0T has a 9 speed automatic transmission which helps matters.

I was chasing a Subaru Forester 2.0 XT till last week and then I saw this article on Car and Driver;

I test drove the 2.0T and I was impressed. The Forester has the CVT, I hate CVTs. The 2.0T in the Equinox with 9 speed transmission is a good combination.

we don’t have the same incentives here. that’s actually a good quote.

I’ll have to keep that in mind when the lease on the 17 is up… Everyone is goo goo over Subaru these last few years, but after having a CVT in a Rogue, I’m not a fan. The CVT would be a deal breaker to me. I have the 2.0T in my 2015 Regal…It’s been a solid engine. I can get about 35 mpg on the highway at 75 mph. The Equinox being a bit heavier and less aerodynamic, I wouldn’t expect that, but it should do decent.

Yeah, I was kinda confused on that as well. 287 all in on a 35k ride w/excess wear seemed decent to me too.

yeah. the kicker is always the ‘plus tax’ part. which you don’t find out until later…
