All due respect, there’s more value in an SQ5. The programs are way better on them.
Yes but aren’t S line demos less common? Again, idea is to asses demos.
did we find out mile cutoff on demos?
Oh for sure. But even with new SQ5’s, you should be able to get to the 1% rule if you use MSDs. Loyalty for sure gets you there.
In Dallas, they have a section for executive demos:
None unfortunately, with max MSD’s or a one pay it shouldn’t be terrible for him.
I’ve emailed that Cape Cod dealer to see if its leasable and what the mileage cut off is, I will report back. Assuming its leasable, the residual would drop around 2% based on the 8k miles.
@aronchi Yea it’s curious how the SQ5 has a better residual than the base models, I wonder if Audi is propping it up?

Audi demo leases cut off at 10k miles as an fyi.
Hate to beat a dead horse here guys, but the total cost on my 3 year lease of a $62k sq5 is less than the cost on the $52k q5 demo in the OP. I got there via one pay, but the result is the same using msd.
It just doesn’t seem like there’s much value in the demo q5. I think if you’re looking for a compact suv, and interested in demo’s or loaners, bmw is more aggressive with the X3.
Most audi’s just don’t lease well. Anyone looking at a well equipped q5 really should consider an sq5, the program is better, and it’s a way better value.
Completely agree. Now, there is also more value in an X5 hybrid, as well. It’s a terrific car, I’d argue better than the pure gasoline.
Guys we know it’s a bad value, the premise is to see where or how or if it can be improved. Achieving 1% on a car that costs $10k more gives more value but may not fit everyone’s budget. We are not hacking anything if we simply throw our hands up and go, oh X brand has better value.
Sie- you’re missing the point. The program is so strong on the sq5 that the payment is the same as on a q5 stickered at thousands less.
So if the lease on a $52k q5 fits one’s budget, the lease on a $60k sq5 will fit the exact same budget.
The only way you’ll know how to improve that lease on the q5 demo is to go to the dealer and see if they have room on selling price or will apply msd’s.
Aronchi and I aren’t really arguing against you, we’re just trying to make anyone that’s in the market for a q5 aware that they should take a hard look at an sq5, as the numbers will really surprise them.
Correct. BMW dealership near me has a good looking X5 hybrid on sale right now, albeit in unusual colors. Would be taking a look at it if we needed a new suv.
Edit - link doesn’t work embedded in text. But it is a 2018 BMW X5 XDRIVE40E demo with 2394 miles, a MSRP of 74,010 and a sales price of 54,987. At BMW of Alexandria.
Great discount. Through my dealer, I can also get a nice discount on the hybrid, but the problem has been a lack of inventory. These are deals worthy of posting on this site, but locating inventory has proved difficult.
Comparing for new, yes that is true. Comparing on a demo, I don’t follow your logic.
Using your tax rate, if this $52k demo example, at only 13% discount, using 9 MSDs, with less incentive cash gets to $539 a month on 36/10; how is your $62k SQ5, if done at 36/10 @ $622 mo (assuming that $17 extra dollars) comparable? As I said, 1% on a higher MSRP car may have more value but many people who come and visit looking for help are not going to spend almost $100 a month plus higher MSD cash down for value. Then, you have higher insurance to consider as well.
Maybe the answer here is demo Q5s still only get close’ish to 1% (in my tax rate, the current deal gets to $526/mo) but maybe there are bigger discounts. Ideally it grows our knowledge and we can direct people to alternatives to the Q5 that aren’t just to get a higher priced trim or go elsewhere.
Not counting the MSD money, didn’t your deal require $2400 due at signing? Accounting for that, your monthly would be $605/month ($539 + $66). I believe @mikem’s effective monthly coincidently also came out to be $605 as well ($21799 one pay).
Jon is right, you’re forgetting to include the $2400 drive off, which inflates the effective monthly payment.
Sie, also keep in mind the 5k miles on the demo brings down the residual on the q5 even more. The 13% off msrp is decent, but as you mentioned, bmw is discounting their demos/loaners 15-20%. Thats where Audi needs to be to make this hacker worthy.
Yes good points, I was leaving that out.
Actually you know what occurs to me and I post this for posterity, @mikem 's SQ5 deal is at 7500 miles a year so the residual is 3% higher than comparing apples to apples on a 36/10. So my points still stands even with fees rolled in
