I’m in the NYC area and in the market for a 2017 BMW X3… I’m still undecided between leasing or buying my next car. Question: If I purchase a 2017 BMW similar to the one posted in this thread, do you think the “Selling Price” mentioned above is a good starting point? Or is “Selling Price” for a lease vs. “Selling Price” for outright purchase different?
Apologies, I never leased a car before. Currently debating if it is just better to go out there and buy it.

With this residuals and been the last year before redesign you should be leasing not buying.
Selling price should not be dependent on lease vs buy.
The only reason to buy, should be if you drive more than 15k a year, keep your cars for longer than 8 years, BMW probably 12 
and paying for them cash.
Yeah, I tend to drive about 15K miles per year and keep my cars for close to 6 years at least.
There is a 2017 BMW X3 close to my place (brand new & only 10 miles on the odometer) that I’m interested in… Sales guy is trying to tell me invoice is the best price they can do.

I’m in NY and just completed a lease - picking up shortly.
2017 X3. I was able to get the $1,000 holiday/winter, and $1,500 loyalty. I wasn’t able to use the $1,000 Northeast or Fleet, since it’s a loaner with 4700 miles.
MSRP 51,995
Discount 7995 (15%+/-)
Rebates 2500
36mo, and 10,000 miles
Adjusted Residual 62%+/- (after mileage deduction).
MF 0.0152 (started at 0.0192)
With taxes, came out to $450+/- per month, and just first month payment. I ended up $337/mo after my trade. Drive off 1st payment only.
I might have been able to get a little more discount, but the 2017’s in the right color are really hard to come by. They gave me a better trade than I think it was worth - I know it’s going to auction, but it’s got brake problems, rear differential/bearing, check engine light and a major oil leak. So glad to get out and start over.
