2017 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD (bay area, $450/month + tax, $1k drive off) -- is it a good deal?

Hi all,

I am new but I did my homework: read through the basics of car leasing, lots of posts and wiki.

Now I am on the market (bay area) to lease a 3-row SUV. I was looking at MDX, QX60 and Highlander. I really like Toyotas in general and it looks their current incentives are the most appealing at the moment so I started with them.

Sent email to a bunch of Toyota dealerships asking for a quote. After a quite a few of back and forth, I have a little bit more information than just standard promotion details. Despite explicitly asking them to send me MF, residual, and MF with MSD they just keep asking my phone number…

Here are few quotes I received so far:

  1. 2017 Highlander SE
    MSRP $44,646
    Selling price: $40400 there’s a $500 rebate or 0.9% interest rate
    money factor is. 00165

(I am not sure if they forgot to include the down payment here so I just plugged this into a leasing calculator assuming it is $0):

Monthly Payment (Excl. Tax): $508
Monthly Payment (incl. tax): $554
Drive Off: $1,041

Leasehackr Score: 7.3 years

  1. 2017 Highlander XLE AWD
3 YEAR LEASE comes with 12,000 miles per year
    $0 DOWN PAYMENT
    $1,045 DRIVE OFF
    $495+TAX

  2. 2016 highlander XLE AWD
    MSRP: $40,314
    BASE PAYMENT: $434.60
    Down: $949.00

  3. 2017 highlander SE AWD
    MSRP: $43,007
    BASE PAYMENT: $507.00
    Down: $949.00

I guess, these are not fantastic deals and I will likely follow up further but it might require me going to the dealerships, which I would avoid before I have at least “good enough” deals.

So, if you comment on these numbers (or just 1st quote as it has more details) and advise on a strategies to go further, I’d really appreciate it. I am also open to suggestions like “you can get Lexus GX for this money”

Thanks!

10% off on the new 2017 refreshed model sounds like a decent discount.

Received a correction from the dealer re: deal #1: He said the invoice was wrong and it should read as . But the monthly payments + drive off do look pretty good:

drive off: $1200
payment: $461.01 including tax
miles: 12k per year.

It seems like a decent offer. Do dealers try to avoid MSD? They all just straight ignore my requests to adjust MF with MSD.
