2017 Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited w/Eyesight+Starlink -- Signed

First off, huge thanks to everyone that contributes to this forum. I have been searching for cars for over a month to get out of this awful $700 MB e350 payment and have found something that suits our needs. Shout out to @Ursus for his Subaru recommendation of targeting $1500 under invoice for Subaru’s. I went in asking for a monthly payment of $267 with a sale price of $28,600 and the overall process took less than 30 minutes. My negotiation skills are rather poor and I am not built like the rest of the LH around here and ended up getting what I thought was still a decent deal at $299/month after tax. I believe there was more room here, but wanted to share with others. If anyone wants to know dealer/salesperson information, let me know. They were extremely friendly, easy to work with.

Thanks again to everyone.

Grats on your new car! How do you like it? I’ve been contemplating a Forester amongst other cars. I’d appreciate your feedback even though you’ve had it for a short while. Also if you could pass the dealer info that would be great!

Great car, but I’m new to calculating and dissecting lease deals.
Per my calculation, why am I getting $291.56 P/M with the OP’s breakdown?

Msrp $33.965
Sale $30.250
Risidual: 62%
MF 0.00040
Depreciation expense: $21,078
Sale price - depreciation = $9,172
$9,172 / 36 = $254.77

Cap: $254.77
MF: $12.10
Total: $266.87
Tax 9.25% of $266.87 = $24.69
$266.87 + $24.69 = 291.56

Weird post, sorry. Just trying to understand where I went wrong.
Thx

Here are the numbers from my lease sheet:

Gross Cap Cost: 30250.13
Cap Cost Reduction: N/A
Adjusted Cap Cost: 30250.13
Residual Value: 21058.30
Depreciation: 9191.83
Rent Charge (Assuming this is MF): 738.77
Total of Base Monthly Payments: 9930.60
Lease Payments: 36
Base Lease Payment: 275.85
Sales/use Tax: 24.14
Total Payment: $299.99

Hope this helps. My only guess is they marked up the MF in the finance room and I didn’t catch it.

Just double checked the math:
Net Cap Cost + Residual x MF = Rent Charge, so (30250+21058)*.0004 = $20.52 MF/mth * 36 = $738.84

Just got it 4 hours ago, but really enjoyed the drive. As you may read, the engine has a little whine to it when trying to pick up speed, but not a big deal to me at all, especially never going over 10 mph in LA.

Very clear vision through all of the windows, especially through the rear. Tons of space overhead and legroom in back seats along with storage. The leather is okay (requirement of the wife), and the infotainment is pretty cool. I think for the price, it’s an awesome reliable car.

Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.

Enjoy your Forester. Eyesight is great and you are right about space and visibility.

@jeanlanglois This seems it could work for me. Could I possibly get that dealer/salesperson information? Shopping around a few dealerships and was quoted ~$350/month for a
2017 Subaru Forester 2.5i Premium w/ Eyesight MSRP 31,000 for a Tier 3 MF 0.00105. I told the salesman roughly the same deal here and he said "not going to happen."
Really have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to leasing. Any help would help tremendously.

PM’ed you the details. For that particular model, take a look here from a post a few weeks ago. This would be a solid starting point.
