2017 GLA 250 nightfall demo deal

First. Phenomenal forum and community. Blown away that the interwebs has produced this gem of a site and allowed it to thrive!

I’m working a deal on a demo 2017 GLA 250. Found the one I wanted out of state, so flying out tomorrow. have hammered out most of the details.
It’s pretty much fully loaded with a special interior and 19" black amg wheels from the factory. Nightfall edition.

Demo :5900 miles
MSRP 41225
Sell price 33492 (~18.75% off)
Residual: 57.5 (standard new 59%)
Residual value: 23721.75 (Assuming they mark off a bit for the miles on cpo demo)
Fees: 1694 (wont budge 1095 + 599 doc)
Lease terms: 36/10
MF: .00097 after auto pay. They started at .00217.
-Sales tax in GA is stupid. Have to pay entire cars value either up front or across the lease, so since there’s no reasonable way around that for me. I’ll just pay it up front. is 2344. (this goes back to normal taxing only on monthly payment after jan of next year, but I can’t wait that long right now)
-Monthly payment: 327
-If tax was like every other state: 349 after tax
-This gets me at .846 % of msrp. How’s it look?
-10 MSD, I’m strongly considering, since it’s essentially a 40% return on my money after 3 years for parking it with MBFS.
-After 10MSD: 287
-After hypothetical normal state tax: 307

Which brings me at: .74 % of MSRP.

I’m trying really hard for them to throw in maintenance, but they’re playing hardball. Maybe I can convince them tomorrow. What is maintenance generally, and what should I pay if they don’t want to play ball?

Thank you!

Looks like a good deal actually. B

Thanks. This gives me a confidence boost going in and getting the deal done tomorrow. Haven’t done a proper lease on my own

I tried to press for the maintenance package thrown in. They’re not budging. Trying to get me to roll it into the monthly at additional. The local dealers offered to throw in two years and two major service maintenance in with the deal, but i didn’t like the cars they had.

Fico is 768. Should I fight for an even lower mf?

If Ga tax laws weren’t screwed or I could get this same deal on Jan 1, 2018, I’d save 1600 in taxes.
1600 in thin air. Agh.

*how would you proper hackrs attempt to make this one better?

Don’t buy the maintenance package. The service departments always offers coupons bringing the A service and B service to exactly the same price as the “discounted” pre-purchase pricing of the packages.

Ask for mats, sun guard, free car washes something that will actually bring you value if you’re done hammering them on the price.

Sound advice. Thanks!

Any thoughts on when the best time to try and lease a cpo/loaner/demo s550 might be, provided I find one that qualifies.
Would have to be after Jan 1 when the GA laws change.
While I can stomach paying the in taxes for my wife’s gla, paying 8k or more up front for the s550 would be brutal.

Looking for my dad. Found a possible candidate to make a solid deal, similar value to above on a well optioned 139k Msrp 2017 model, but the taxes blew the deal out of the water. Would’ve been for Father’s Day. I guess a good steak will do instead. Lol.

He’s not going to service nor wash his car there

Looks like a solid deal. You can probably negotiate more when you are actually at the dealer. Just don’t let them think it is a done deal.
Obviously, if they know you are coming from out of state, they will have some leverage so be careful there. Even if they won’t budge a dollar, I would still take the car. Enjoy!

Doing it now.
Bumped it to 36/12 since I realized we’d probably need the extra miles.

Final payment coming out to 327.
They would only let me do 3 security deposits. Finance guy was saying MBFS wouldn’t let the rate go lower than that. That seems iffy to me. I pressed him and he stuck to his guns. Can anyone confirm this?

As far as the maintenance. I ended up paying $600 for three years prepaid. I figure each service will average at least $200. Or not much less than that. The guy was desperate, so if I’m literally a few extra bucks in the end I’m okay with it. Seems like a deal to me though. Just paying it up front.

So, 327 at 36/12 and three years maintenance.
I’m paying tax 2363 up front
1734 fees and tag and such upfront.
First months 327
1200 3x MSD
600 maintenance.
6224 total drive off with the deposits back at the end.

If they’re BSing about the amount of MSDs allowed, can I get it sorted through MBFS later?

@apache137 you said you’re flying in to get the car. Does that mean you live outside of GA?

If so, the tax will go by the state where you live. So for example if you live in FL then you don’t have to pay all the tax upfront but will be charged tax on the monthly payment similar to most of the country.

Also, you can’t sort out the MSDs later. Once the contract is signed that’s it.

Live in GA. Flew out to drive it back.
Annoyed about the MSD limit they said, but happy otherwise. Anyone ever heard of this limiting before?

@apache137 maybe you don’t fully understand what MSDs actually do:

Each MSD lowered the money factor by a certain amount. This means that your interest on the lease gets lowered with each MSD. If the starting money factor is already low and you put down 3 MSDs and it makes the interest zero, then putting additional MSDs doesn’t help or make sense.

To be honest, 3 MSDs sounds like it’s a minimal difference in payment. I would have probably skipped putting MSDs down if it made such a small difference.

Just got home. 200 miles. What a fun drive. Mercedes has a winner with this turbo 4.

So, about the MSDs, that was my general understanding. It didn’t bring it down to zero, the finance guy wouldn’t let me do anymore and said something along the lines of “Mercedes isn’t in the business of loaning cars for free.”

Also, the 3x MSD came to 1050 instead of 1200

Based on my calculations, that saved $14 per month = $504 over 36 months = 48% of $1050
The way I see it, that’s a guaranteed 48% return on my money over three years. Wish he would’ve let me max them out! Still think he wasn’t entirely honest about that, but short of walking away over it, I had no recourse having flown in. If it does turn out he fibbed, I’ll try and get some oil changes or something out of MB. Idk. Worse case I let it go. I’m satisfied.

I had the same experience with Infiniti. The negotiated MF was already so low that they didn’t let me put any MSD, and it wouldn’t have made any financial sense from my end to put any MF anyways.

305Hackr’s explanation is spot on

Glad you like your new car!! Congrats and have fun!

Awesome congrats. Sounds like the finance guy was being a d@ck. I personally wouldn’t have even stepped into the finance guys office until the deal was finalized with sales guy to my liking. Once you’re in the finance office ur a harder to go back. In any case, not the end of the world. if you’re happy with the car just enjoy it

I am being offered a similar car (dealer demo w 8k miles) and was wondering your thoughts on this deal? They want me to come in tomorrow to sign or the deal is off the table supposedly:

2017 GLA 250W4 - Night black, premium package, 19" wheels, smarphone package.
MSRP $40,855.
Marked down to $34,200.
36 mo 15,000 mile lease
$1790 down
$427 a month payment

How does this deal stack up?

If your heart is set on the car, I don’t want to dissuade you.
But I got more off msrp, mine was significantly lower miles, and higher priced.
I think you can get another 3-5% off msrp for the sale price.
Confirm that the residual and mf are what they should be. Search “2017 gla 250 residual” in google and click on the edmunds link and scroll to the last page. Latest numbers should be there.
Do as many MSD as you can afford. My jerk finance guy only “let” me do 3, but I think he was being shady.
Still, even three saved me a good bit and I’ll get that money back end of the term. The money I’m saving with the MSD works out to something close to 50% return on my investment for three years. And it’s guaranteed. One of the true steals I’ve ever seen.
I’d have done 100 if they let me.

Good luck

Also, totally try and negotiate a service package thrown in once you knock them down on price. Tell it’s already got 8k miles and service A is due at 10k.

Also also, wife and I are loving the car. This turbo 4 is a winner for MB. Wish we would’ve gotten the 4matic, but couldn’t find one with the other options we wanted. Wish I would’ve gone for 15k. We’re already wayyyyy over 1k a month and it’s only been a couple months. lol. Tipping 10k any day now. :joy::see_no_evil:
I’m going to get the Mb Amex and try and use their additional lease mile benefit when it’s time to turn in. They give you additional 1-2k lease miles overboard the limit grace depending on which version of the card you have.

I don’t have my heart set on it, so I am fine walking away. My current lease isnt up until December but they were waiving the remaining payments, so I have time to keep looking.

The sales guy said that since the interest is so low on these that doing security deposits doesnt help the price? Maybe he was wrong? I will look into that. I am a newbie at this so how do I find out what the residual should be and what they have it at? and if they have it higher, I know they can lower it?
