Looking at a 2017 Ford Escape SE FWD with entertainment package in the state of TN.
36 month lease at 12,000 per year with $2,500 down at $308 a month.
Seems a little high but I’m a newb and could you any advice.

That appears high to me. The current SUV lease cash on Fords in the southeast is less than other parts of the country making them more expensive to lease. The dealer discount seems low. I’d suggest reviewing the forum for discussions of the 2018 Chevy Equinox which seems to be leasing really well for a new design (better if you have a competitive lease) and the Hyundai SUVs. If you are set on the Ford, you may want to go to their website and search their incentives and build a couple cars - I got a pop up that provided a $750 voucher for a purchase or lease directly from Ford. Also, you could post the residual and money factor from your dealer offer to get more detailed feedback.
