How to handle damage to a leased vehicle

My leased BMW X3 got scratched in a parking lot by someone backing into it. I am going to file a claim with my insurance company, but what do I need to do with respect to BMW Financial Services (the vehicle’s owner)?

Thanks in advance

Don’t tell BMWFS. Just repair it and then return it at lease end.

repair it so that you can’t see it anymore. if you can’t see it, the lease return inspector won’t be able to either.

Why even file an insurance claim for a scratch. Just fix it before returning.

agree, not worth it for a scratch.

Yep, repair it and don’t say anything.

Maybe I should have been more explicit. There are several scratches along the driver’s side rear door and it has been dented slightly. I still have 10 months left on the lease.

You don’t know who did it? Personally, I’d fix it out of my own pocket or see how much BMWFS would charge for it instead of involving your own insurance. I think the deductible would be too much or the premium increase doesn’t make it worth it.

I agree about the deductible and premium hit, but won’t BMW want it fixed by the dealer (at usually high dealer prices?). Also I’d prefer to get this fixed sooner rather than at the end of the lease.
