BMW 2019 X3 Lease Review in NJ

,

Unpopular opinion: the x2 is way more fun to drive, but the x3 is way better to live with daily.

I finally got a breakdown from the dealer on a lease I asked about yesterday, please see below.

MSRP $52,170.00 X Residual of 59% = $30,780.00

Sell Price $48,890.03
Bank Fee $ 925.00
Doc Fee $ 504.85
DMV $ 506.06
Gross Cap $ 50,825.99 + Sales Tax $1,584.10 - $1,500 Rebate

Net Cap Cost $50,910.11

Lease Charge

NetCapCost $50,910.11

Residual $30,780.30

Total $81,910.11

$81,910.11 x .00153 (Money factor Reduced with 7 MSD’s)

= $124.99 Monthly Lease Charge

Net Cap Cost of $50,910.11 - $30,780.30 Residual = $20,130.61

$20,130.61 / 36 = $559.18

$559.18 + $124.99 = $684.17 Monthly

discount isn’t great… I don’t know if they are really waiving the last 2 payments on your current lease, but your monthly should be in the high 500s with same drive off

Thanks, so to clarify, my drive-off cost is just first month payment of $684.17 essentially.

I have existing MSD of $3,150 from existing lease which will roll-over, plus they want an additional $1,750 for MSD, plus first month. So $1,750 + $684.17 = $2,434.17

With all fees and taxes rolled into the monthly, is this a fair or even a good deal? Should I ask for more off of a discount?

High sixes on a $52k X3 with MSD feels pretty abysmal to me.

Is it abysmal with all fees and taxes rolled in though?

not a good deal. yes ask for 14% off MSRP before rebates/incentives

Yes

There’s only 12% in the car itself. why would anyone give you 14% at the beginning of the year?

Where do you get 14%?? You got 13% on one recently, with a super high doc fee, which comes out to 12%. (which is where it should be)

Thanks, I think I should hold off for now, as I have two months left on my lease and was hoping for the pull-ahead program. When is the best time to buy a car from BMW though, end of month? Is asking for 12% off of MSRP even realistic?

BMW is good in march, or at least better than now. The wild card is the money factor, which they keep bumping, so even the discount is outweighed by the higher interest rate. It’s definitely a challenging time to get a bmw and stay in budget.

If you’re not hurting to get out of current car, best to wait; doubt the deals will get worse in Feb/March, as more and more 2019s will be rolling onto lots.

In the interval, keep using a shotgun approach to see if any other dealers are more willing to play ball. Time is on your side, as long as you can avoid my mistake–getting impatient and craving new car smell prematurely.

Also extend as long as possible. I’ll be doing that with my 340i and hopefully will bang out a 6 month extension.

relax it’s an ask…they will come back at 10-12% if they want to make a sell

… not a realistic one LOL

Can you extend a bmw lease without ordering another ? In the past you couldn’t. I have a good 340 lease up at end of April. Would extend if nothing good comes up.

They’ll give you a few months, used to give up to 6. You can just tell them you’re looking to stay w/ the brand and are looking for the right deal / car to come along. It does work.

$1011 for DMV and DOC fees is way out of line. BMW of Mt Laurel charged me $429 + $189 for each of our vehicles.

what would happen to the allotted miles in this situation?
