BMW 2019 X3 Lease Review in NJ

,

You sure are missing how the monthly is calculated.

The MSDs are your money which you are rolling from a previous lease plus adding to it for X3 making it 4750 in all. It is supposed to be refunded and you get that back but why would it reduce your monthly. It’s not coming from the state in form of a rebate or a 3rd party like BMW CCA rebate which you prorate and reduce your monthly. The monthly already got reduced to 687 due to MSD dropping your MF however you don’t mention what MF they are giving you to begin with and whether it’s marked up or not.

This is a horrible deal, way over 1% for a 52k SUV at 687/mth.

Ask for at least 10% off MSRP, reduce any lease cash BMW has on this car, sign up for BMW CCA and get that 1k back, don’t pay any more than base MF in your region and than get it deducted based on your MSD and see where the payment goes.

Thanks, I see the issue now, the MSD’s are my money. And the payment is the payment at $687 x 36 Months, so I’m truly paying $24,372.00.

Money factor was .00188 without MSD’s.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll sign up for BMW CCA. Based on the MSRP, and MSD’s of $4,750, what should I be paying fairly?

Again, appreciate the feedback.

what is the residual %?

The residual is 59%.

What is your BMW CCA membership, as I want to show u as a reference.

Based on the #s the salesperson offered, your pre-tax monthly should be right around $600.
No matter how they sliced the MSD $, your effective post-tax monthly payment is $687, and it seems high by just adding tax.

Also, your closing price $47,390 is about 10% MSRP. 19 model may have less discount but you can push for at least 12% off.

Last, 59% RV looks low unless you’re asking for a lot of miles per year

I’m only 10k miles per year. The $687 is inclusive of tax and all fees. So effectively no out-of-pocket, and $687/month. What should RS be? 61%?

Unless you’re absolutely married to the x3 for some reason, look at the x2. There are much better deals to be had on it, and it has the exact same engine. The way I look at BMWs, unless you’re getting an upgraded engine, either the i6 or the v8, they’re all the same, just with different form factors. Hardly worth overpaying for what is, effectively, the same car because it has the same guts.

But nice to see that BMW is able to sell their made-in-america, marketed-as-german SUVs at such a premium…

Also you have 2 payments left, wait until march. It’s a much better month for BMW.

Interesting on the March suggestion. I did test drive the X2, and it seemed cramped, plus blindspots were horrible. I believe the X2 is 228HP and X3 is 248HP though.

Same engine or not, X3 is RWD-based and X2 is FWD-based, and that makes a big difference in driving feel, even to non-enthusiasts.

i was under the impression of 60% but just edmunds forum shows 59% is about right for 36 /10K

In the northeast, they’re all 50/50 xdrive distribution. Doesn’t really matter with permanent AWD.

And you don’t really feel the power difference. The 4 cyl feels the same everywhere, except in the 320i, where it is a turd. The difference b/w the x2 and x3 was around $250-$300 / month last month.

I drove a Volvo XC40 R-Design as well, and that was a really nice car, but no discounts/incentives right now on those.

Are you sure about that? Only Subaru gets close to 50/50, all others are either FWD or RWD biased, as far as I know. Which means something like 70/30.

I could be wrong, but in my mind, a person shopping for an X3 isn’t cross shopping X2 often. They’re really different vehicles. One based on a pretty renowned sport sedan and the other a fraternal twin of a Mini.

Unpopular opinion: the x2 is way more fun to drive, but the x3 is way better to live with daily.

I finally got a breakdown from the dealer on a lease I asked about yesterday, please see below.

MSRP $52,170.00 X Residual of 59% = $30,780.00

Sell Price $48,890.03
Bank Fee $ 925.00
Doc Fee $ 504.85
DMV $ 506.06
Gross Cap $ 50,825.99 + Sales Tax $1,584.10 - $1,500 Rebate

Net Cap Cost $50,910.11

Lease Charge

NetCapCost $50,910.11

Residual $30,780.30

Total $81,910.11

$81,910.11 x .00153 (Money factor Reduced with 7 MSD’s)

= $124.99 Monthly Lease Charge

Net Cap Cost of $50,910.11 - $30,780.30 Residual = $20,130.61

$20,130.61 / 36 = $559.18

$559.18 + $124.99 = $684.17 Monthly

discount isn’t great… I don’t know if they are really waiving the last 2 payments on your current lease, but your monthly should be in the high 500s with same drive off
