2018 VW Tiguan S - Midwest - Suggestions?

First time lessee here - give me some advice/feedback. I have 3 current offers, all seem like they haven’t budged much on the dealer price. 12k/36mo I was hoping to see more around 10% off msrp - tell me if i’m crazy. I currently have a Enclave (pos that my mechanic father has had to continually fix) that i’m trading in, but will have to take a loss on - expecting at max 3000 extra to tack on the bottom line. Hoping to get around 350-360/mo with that- but am negotiating that separate. These offers still do not get me remotely close to the ~1% rule.

For the Enclave, have you tried to get quotes from carvana, vroom, etc? Might be an option or at least help guide your trade-in price.

I don’t know much about the mid-west market but 20+% discount is an achievable target on a Tiguan S normally. Use cargurus.com and try looking within 500 miles and sort by Best Deals or Oldest Listings (those oldest ones should bring better discounts), that’ll give you a lot to trawl through, and make a shortlist. The best examples I see near you seem to be in Illinois. Email some of those with good prices and compare results to the quotes you already have. Let us know what you find and we can help.

Those quotes all look bad especially compared to what was available last month. But the incentives have changed and the deals aren’t as good. Search negative equity on the forum to get info on this, obviously not a good situation. Best scenario probably involves letting the family mechanic keep you going until you are no longer underwater on you payment. A sedan will lease better and do a better job of hiding your previous mistake.

I have got a few numbers now on older listings as suggested. Both cases they are only around $2000 discount form MSRP. Even though advertised is 4k+, that discount is not for lease.

Carvana is out of area so not an option.

How far out from where you live are you looking at? If they’re quite isolated dealers they may never be competitive. Did you target older stock?

I’d keep in contact with the people who have provided quotes and see who’ll move the most on Monday as we near month-end, and maybe focus on larger dealers. The other option is a broker if time’s running out and you want to make the most of the end of month period.

@mill4051 I suggest you contact @Benedetto as he helped me get a Tiguan S a couple of weeks ago in Georgia and he works nationwide.

Look into the VW partner program too, you can qualify through work or sign up for usa cycling membership. Gets you $500 under invoice.
